He is a master in the art of complex pyrotechnic displays, using gunpowder and explosives to mesmerize his audiences and create spectacular installations in the residue and fiery scars left behind. Guo-Qiang’s expertise in the art has even allowed him to direct the special effects at the opening and closing ceremonies during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Art.sy films present “Sky Ladder,” a short film on his latest exhibition at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles — his first solo debut on the West Coast.
