Last month we offered a look into Rapha’s 2012 spring/summer collection, and today the British cycling company advances its product line of technical innovations offering the Grand Tour Shoes in conjunction with action sports apparel label, Giro. Announced as its first venture into the footwear market, Rapha aims to deliver the highest performance and finest quality for the discerning cyclist seeking the best in racing and training footwear. The two collaborative brands developed what they believe to be a shoe that offers greater durability, comfort and quality than any other shoe on the market. The cutting-edge design begins with a full Yak leather upper, the first in the cycling industry, intended to provide a lightweight, comfortable build all the while repelling water and effectively managing interior moisture. The Californian sports design team at Giro further enhances the shoe with a carbon fiber Easton EC90 unidirectional sole providing an excellent connection with the pedal and its acclaimed SuperNatural fit system, offering a comfortable insole capable of molding to the shape of the wearer’s foot. Rounding out the model with an aluminum buckle, leather straps and titanium D rings, this functional yet elegant footwear piece will be available in both black and white on April 10. Priced at $450 USD, the Grand Tour Shoes will be available for purchase exclusively through both brands’ webstores and select Rapha retailers worldwide.
