The Man's Guide to Buying a Watch: Episode 3 - Form Versus Function

IWC Schaffhausen, manufacturer of some of the finest Swiss timepieces, has produced a short online series of videos in conjunction with HODINKEE titled The Man’s Guide to Buying a Watch. Focusing on mechanical timepieces, the series provides background information on what goes into the production of a mechanical watch as well as what to look for when buying a fine watch. In this latest episode titled “Form Versus Function” the experts at IWC discuss watch design and how form and function go hand-in-hand. More than just selecting visually appealing materials, the engineers and designers at IWC look to create themes and evoke experiences with each watch and to that end have gone as far as creating mockups of various environments such as a cockpit for their pilot watches.
