MOCAtv recently caught up with storied artist RISK down in Los Angeles as he completed several projects coinciding with the Art Basel festivities. Focusing heavily on his project centering on the Skid Row area of Los Angeles, RISK discusses his 30-year writing career and how he wants to achieve social awareness by removing the stigma from graffiti while also looking to uplift a community of residents. Noting that he himself has a more positive outlook as he has aged, his urge to create more radiant works seemed to fit in well with the Skid Row Freewalls Project. The finished work certainly prioritizes a theme of a “new dawn.”
