Essentials takes a peek this week at the Philly-based producer, songwriter, rapper and DJ Diplo. The Mad Decent founder also runs a lesser known non-profit organization for underprivileged artists in Australia called Heaps Decent, and has worked as a school teacher in Philadelphia in the past. Since the success of his Jamaican dance hall project Major Lazer, however, he has worked with some of the biggest industry names — including Beyoncé, Shakira, Robyn, Kid Cudi, Bruno Mars, No Doubt, Snoop Dogg and Usher.
Among his needful things here we observe a motley collection of technology — an Apple MacBook Pro, BlackBerry Bold and Samsung Galaxy SIII — with extra hard drives and UAD-2 Accelerator for audio plugins, an Apogee ONE microphone and portable all-in-one Synthesizer, Sampler and Controller, Fujifilm instant camera and more?! With so much to do, the miniature bottles of gin and bourbon are necessary needless to say.
