Caminando is a Japanese label hailing from Tokyo, unique in its utilization of Mexican craftsmanship for the brand’s footwear collections. Mining the little-known, yet rich tradition of shoemaking that exists in Mexico, Caminando developed partnerships with seven local factories, each boasting skilled artisans that make and oversee the label’s handmade shoes. Aesthetically, the shoes are grounded by “basic styles” inspired by work, military, sport, traditional and contemporary design. For its most recent collaboration, Caminando teamed with the untraditional traditionalists IMIND for a duo of suede derbies featuring Vibram wedge soles. Made, as always, in Mexico, each shoe features subtle details like contrast-colored welts and stitching and are casual yet sophisticated options for fall.
