Mugen Debuts New Honda CR-Z MUGEN RZ
In the quest to squeeze the highest level of performance and biggest numbers out of the Honda

In the quest to squeeze the highest level of performance and biggest numbers out of the Honda CR-Z‘s fuel-efficient 1.5 L i-VTEC hybrid engine, Honda race specialists Mugen unveil the supercharged Honda CR-Z MUGEN RZ. Much like earlier renditions from other Japanese tuning garages — such as Spoon — the heart of the hybrid car was kept intact and built around the premise of keeping the electric aspect of the motor in the engine. The base horsepower of 122hp gets a sizable increase to 154hp due to the adjoined supercharger, while the electric motor adds an additional 20hp — giving this lightweight hatch a total of 174hp. In addition to what’s under the hood, more racing DNA is bolted on in the form of a larger braking system, 17-inch wheels wrapped in 205/45 R17 Dunlop Direzza ZII tires, weight-saving carbon fiber trimmings, an aggressive aero kit, sports suspension, racing seats, and a boost gauge. Mugen kept the production numbers quite low as only 300 will be built, and as usual with most race-ready JDM vehicles, they will be sold exclusively in Japan.
