Cadillac has just announced it has given the green light for production of the ELR Electric Car. An extended range plug-in electric vehicle, the powertrain will pair an electric propulsion system with a four cylinder engine. Electricity will serve as the primary energy source with the gasoline engine kicking in as the battery runs low for additional range. An evolution of the company’s “Art and Science” design language, the ELR boasts strong, sharp lines in a sleek, compact silhouette. Look for the official unveiling of the ELR at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
