Recognizing the scope of California’s vast influence on modern fashion and culture, SeaVees is a vision of footwear dedicated to the celebration of the Golden State’s most tumultuous and culturally rich period – the sixties. Each revisionist style in the collection is thusly named after a date during that period.
The new 2012 Spring/Summer 03/69 Court Shoe is aptly named after the date the ULCA Bruins won their fifth NCAA Division I national championship in six years, led by an inspiring performance from a certain Lew Alcindor (who would later go on to be known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). More broadly though, is how the 03/69 is a tribute to one of the most dominating college basketball programs in history the history of the NCAA. The super clean profile, gum rubber soles, supple pigskin suede uppers, and environmentally conscious construction are all a respective nod to the court shoe styling of the same era.
