Deadmau5 slams Ultra Music Festival

Deadmau5 took to his YouTube channel to berate Ultra Music Festival in Miami over their ticket pricing and exclusivity contracts. The Canadian producer/DJ (real name Joel Zimmerman) cites the $595 ticket price (VIP), the same format the festival upholds year after year and how they make artists sign exclusivity contracts seeing that they don’t play any other events during Ultra Music Festival.

“Ultra to me is like the definition of insanity,” he says. “It’s doing the same fucking thing every year, expecting different results every time. Why would you go every year? 595 fucking dollars for a ticket? Wow, someone’s laughing to the bank. I love Miami, but I hate these fucking festival things. I would rather spend 50 or 100 dollars to see my favourite act rather than doshing out 600 bucks to see all these fucking people, most of which are playing at the same fucking time.”

The video blog was posted late last week, it has since been taken off YouTube with a note saying, “This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated.” No word on whether the YouTube channel was actually his or not, but the video was sourced originally from his Ustream channel – the original has also been removed.
