It’s not all about being futuristic and hi-tech in Japan, as traditional art and culture still inspire local creators and manufactures. The Daruma has become synonymous with Zen and good luck charm as it has evolved into such a strong point of Japanese heritage. The history of the original paper doll dates back to the mid-1700s in ancient Japan. Though Daruma is not confined to the past, Tokyo-based toymaker Medicom Toy launched this a new 400% Bearbrick. Ultimately, the Bearbrick Daruma 400% features the traditional red coloring as well the original blank “Daruma Eyes” as a way to pay homage. It’s just a happy coincidence that both the Bearbrick and Daruma are both Japanese toys – only from a different era. The original Daruma Bearbrick released almost ten years ago as this new larger version is available now Saint Alfred.
