Just recently, OHWOW gallery played host to Jose Parla’s new show titled “Character Gestures.” This rare event in LA has drawn many people and garnered tremendous support from the art community. Exploring to the various themes of birth and rebirth, this exhibition has given the viewers the opportunity to look into the meanings behind each piece carefully. Albeit the paintings were the main attraction, another important aspect of the show included some objects that were part of the works’ creative processes. These objects are layers of paper that were laid on top of the larger paintings and vibrant bundles of rag seen hanging from the ceiling.
