As part of its new Open Graph app platform, Facebook has teamed up with several music companies in order to offer real-time music streaming and discovery to the timeline. Spotify, Rhapsody, MOG, Rdio, Soundcloud, Earbits, Vevo, Slacker Radio and Songza are among the launch partners. Spotify recently launched in the U.S. and have over 2 million paying subscribers. Referring to the new service the “soundtrack to your social life,” Spotify founder Daniel Ek revealed the plans at the conference and gives a detailed description on the Spotify website:
You’ll now start seeing new music posts and play buttons all over your newsfeeds. Hit a play button and the music starts. Right there. Spotify fires up to give you a new soundtrack to your social life. Check out your new Music Dashboard and your real-time ticker to discover the music that’s trending with your friends.
