New from singer, songwriter and producer Mayer Hawthorne comes this catchy cover of ’80s-throwback electro-pop duo Chromeo’s “When the Night Falls.” Just as synth-fueled and kitschy as expected, the cover serves well to maintain the song’s integrity while also adding Hawthorne’s signature vocal inflections to it. Since Hawthorne is currently on tour with Chromeo, the surface of this cover is no surprise and, in fact, a future collaborative effort wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to predict either.
