Conceptualized by German designer Tim Mackerodt, this unique lamp and stool set were created as part of a series called “FALT.” The pieces were made using a folded concrete method by which fiber-reinforced concrete is rolled out and manually folded into flexible molds, the effects of which cannot be produced by means of traditional casting techniques. Only 2.7mm thick, the lamp weighs less than 14,000 grams while the stool features legs that are held in place by a layer of concrete that’s 5mm thick. The FALT. series is scheduled to be displayed at the 2011 DMY Berlin design festival from June 1-5, 2011.
