Netflix Reveals Official 'Avicii - I'm Tim' Documentary Trailer

Netflix has officially dropped the trailer for the upcoming Avicii documentary.

The late DJ/producer shares the story of his life in his own words in the new project titled, Avicii – I’m Tim. Featuring narrations from the artist himself, fans get a glimpse of the “Levels” and “Hey Brother” hitmaker. Telling the story of how a shy boy from Sweden became one of the most beloved musicians in the world, the documentary is emotional. Avicii died by suicide in April 2018 in Muscat, Oman at the age of 28. Through the documentary, fans will get a chance to catch a glimpse of his story through home movies, private archives and follow his career all the way up to his tragic end.

Directed by Henrik Burman, the film sees conversations with family, artist colleagues and best friends as they peel back the curtain on “the boy behind Avicii.” Interviews with prominent collaborators like Chris Martin and Aloe Bacc have been revealed. Fans were only able to understand a sliver of the artist’s life in excerpts from Måns Mosesson’s book Tim — The Official Biography of Avicii published by the New York. It featured journal entries from the “Wake Me Up” artist which linked him to drug and alcohol abuse. His struggles were heightened alongside his anxiety. He wrote, “I had a hard time accepting never drinking again though strongly suggested from all doctors to wait at least a year before even having a beer. Of course, I didn’t listen to the majority of the doctors, I listened to the couple who said it was OK if I was careful. I was ignorant and naïve and touring the world, still on the never-ending tour — because once you’ve circled it, guess what? You start right back over again. Those days in hospital were the most anxiety and stress-free days I can remember the past six years, those were my true vacations, as depressing as it might sound.”

The documentary premieres on December 31 on Netflix alongside Avicii’s final show, Avicii – My Last Show from Ibiza’s Ushaïa.
