Starting this month, the Pasadena Museum of California Art will be launching a new exhibition
Starting this month, the Pasadena Museum of California Art will be launching a new exhibition entitled “Street Cred: Graffiti Art from Concrete to Canvas” to highlight the city of Los Angeles’ wide-ranging graffiti styles. Among the many artists being featured in the show is LA-born graffiti artist Marquis Lewis, better known as Retna. Coming to rise during the 1990s, Retna became know for his unique murals painted on trains, walls and overpasses throughout the city that features symbols inspired by ancient hieroglyphics and calligraphy. A number of select pieces from the artist’s works will be on display at the museum from May 15 until September 4.
