XXL's 2011 Freshman Class Cypher (Part 1 of 3)
The idea of the rap cypher has seen an undeniable rise in mainstream popularity since its use
The idea of the rap cypher has seen an undeniable rise in mainstream popularity since its use in the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards last October. To continue promotion of its recent ‘2011 Freshman’ cover, XXL decided to adapt the idea and create a three-part cypher series in which its chosen class of 11 rappers recite verses for the camera. In part one, we get to hear YG, Mac Miller, Diggy Simmons and Lil Twist go in over a simple, drum-based beat. Check it out and be on the lookout for parts two and three, which should hit the web in the coming days.
