In this video by Marcus Troy, designer Darren Romanelli discusses the inspiration behind his latest collection for Dr. Romanelli (also known as “DRx”). Known for projects that take vintage pieces and reinterpret them into a more contemporary design, Romanelli teamed up with Japanese reproduction label The Real McCoys to remake classic military fatigues that feature Beetle Bailey – a classic cartoon strip character introduced by artist Mort Walker in the 1950s. Handpicked from the archives, images of Beetle Bailey adorn the backs of several Dr. Romanelli bomber and flight jackets.
