Driven by an astute attention to detail and a keen eye for design, creative collective known as Society27 is perpetuating a modern bespoke approach to shoemaking through its maturing footwear label. Congruent with the brand’s theme, each footwear offering is manufactured in a limited 27-piece run and comes complete with a custom wood shoebox. Society27 recently joined like-minded Valistika Design Studio Barcelona for “The Origins” Fall 2011 collaborative effort.
The project sees the inclusion of a limited T-shirt in addition to the self-titled The Origins moc-toe sneaker. An amalgam of supple brown leather and denim textiles, the pair feature embellishment patterns along the side panels, toe box and tongue tag. While a white low profile outsole contrasts the neutral silhouette, matching leather laces and antique hardware round off the outdoor-ready shoes. Consistent with its previous releases, each pair of The Origins comes complete with a custom carved wooden shoebox. In addition to the release of the shoes and tee, the design group also released a variety of storyboard sketches and visuals that effectively catalog the progression of the project from start to finish. The Origins are now available through the Society27 online store for €327 EUR (approx. $449 USD).
