On October 22nd Japanese clothing label PHENOMENON debuted their Spring/Summer 2012 collection in Tokyo. The collection was summarized by the brand in one phrase; “Nippon – Kodomo – Mirai” which roughly translates to “Japan – Child – Future.” A vivid palate was used in the line, clearly drawing inspiration from a conceptual idea of the future of Japanese children. While incorporating a number of Western-influenced pieces including blazers and boat shoes, the collection remains uniquely Japanese. PHENOMENON was initially founded as a streetwear label, however we can see the brand’s progression towards a more sophisticated appearance.
