In 1993, Fila was at the peak of its popularity. That year it released the Fila Cage, which was most distinguishable by its padded and ribbed tongue as well at is characteristic heel counter. These unique elements helped cultivate its allure as well as secure it a place in sneaker history, yet since then it has become somewhat forgotten. Fila has responded by recently introducing several bold new styles, and today Sole Recon released production images of the new Fila Cage Runner. The Cage Runner certainly draws upon inspiration from the original, yet reinterprets key pieces of the design to help create a modern, fresh and stylish new look for the brand. The Cage Runner has a ribbed tongue and ‘cage’ eyestay (like the original), yet the main draw of the Cage Runner is the neoprene counter panel, which boasts an embossed memory foam heel for extraordinary comfort – a characteristic that the original was most remembered for. It will be available in three colorways: Black/Arcadia Green, Wild Dove/Yellow and White/Blue-Iris/Red. Look for the Cage Runner to drop next spring as well as many new releases from Fila.
