Coldplay performs on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

For the latest stop on the current promotional run for their brand new fifth album, Mylo Xyloto, renowned British alternative quartet Coldplay popped up on the Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday. When she introduced the band to the studio audience for a performance of their hit single, “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall,” Ellen stated that it was a moment she had been waiting nine seasons for. While that one song was the only part of the performance that could be viewed at home from a TV set, videos of Chris Martin and company playing “Paradise,” “Viva La Vida” and “Clocks” for the crowd were filmed and are now available as web exclusives. The concert wasn’t all that they gave Ellen for their first-ever appearance on her popular daytime talk show, though. With Coldplay’s lead guitarist, Jonny Buckland, sitting beside him, Martin took the time to sit down with Ellen to speak in good humor about his wife, Gwnyeth Paltrow, his love life before her, and the band’s “secret member,” who happens to be their manager, Phil Harvey. In addition to watching the performances and interview, make sure you check out Coldplay’s unique cover of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” that they put out the other day, and buy Mylo Xyloto on iTunes to help further secure its expected No. 1 debut atop the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.
