Welcome to the 30th edition of Hypetrak’s Weekly Set-series. Despite another G.O.O.D. Friday, Bink 182’s drummer Travis Barker could lance this week’s top spot. As the release of his much anticipated request Give The Drummer Some approaches, it was no big surprise to get an audible taste off the project. This came in shape of the banging The Cool Kids-laced cut “Jump Down”. Kanye has teamed up yet again a range of illustrious names for his latest weekend opener “So Appalled”. Another previously unreleased – and probably unfinished – track by Mr. West titled “Touch It” reemerged and drew the interest of our readers. We also witnessed another collaborative joint by Young Money’s Lil’ Wayne and Drake who joined forces for the slow jam “With You”. Easily one of the artist with the most buzz right now, Bruno Mars rounds up the top five with the Lupe Fiasco-assisted remix for his hit single “Just The Way You Are”.
Further attention-gainers were provided by – yet again – Mr. Mars with the radio friendly track “Grenade”, Brooklyn-collective Escort’s ode to NYC and Chi-Town titled “Cocaine”, J. Cole unveiling his “Plan” , Theophilus London falling victim to “Fatal Attraction” as well as Aloe Blacc’s “The Way You Smile”.
regarding visual work, Sleigh Bells’ excellent video for “Infinity Guitars” deserves to be highlighted, just as OK Go’s visual translation for “White Knuckles”. Further more than notable efforts came by English quintet Foals also turned in a stellar clip for their intriguing tune “2 Trees” and Jimmy Eat World for visualizing “My Best Theory”.
On the Mixtape-side, we have seen the release of a Nas’ I’m The Shit 180-mixtape which heats up the anticipation for his recently announced Lost Tapes 2-project.
