Mark Hoppus opened up on the forthcoming Blink-182’s comeback album which will follow up to their 2003 self-titled album at MTV’s Jingle Bell Ball. Although the recording process is still at an early stage, the bassist revealed that the sound of the album will be diverse and expansive. The album is also inspired by certain incidents that have marked the lives of the band members in recent years – including drummer Travis Barker being involved in a plane crash in 2008, which killed four other passengers.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a dark record; I think it’s really an expansive record. There’s stuff that sounds like what we were doing on the last Blink record, and there’s stuff that sounds like what we were doing ten years ago and stuff that we’ve never done before. We’ve gone through a lot of really heavy stuff over the past few years,” Hoppus said. “There’s plenty of heavy stuff to write about. I think in moments it will [be dark].”
Stay tuned for more news developing the still untitled LP.
