After serving eight months of a year-long sentence for attempted gun possession, Lil Wayne was released from the Rikers Island prison facility at 8:35 a.m. today. According to a prison guard, the rapper should have been released yesterday but had to wait another day due “miscalculated” time. His lawyer Stacey Richman stated:
“When he gets released on Thursday, he has satisfied his obligations to New York. Part of the resolution of the case was that there’s nothing [else], no probation or parole, because the plea was to attempted possession.”
Although he does not face any subsequent probation or parole from the initial gun charge, he faces three years of unsupervised probation and community service after pleading guilty in Arizona to one count of possession of a dangerous drug.
As Young Money CEO, Mack Maine, announced, Weezy will receive a royal welcoming home treatment.
“It’s like picking up a king. We gonna make sure everything is straight; jets and luxury cars, red carpet and probably beautiful women and just make sure that he’s [treated like] straight royalty.”
