The Constant Gallery in Los Angeles presents their latest exhibition showcase featuring the works of Grant Vetter.
Grant Vetter’s work enters the discourse at a point when the abject has lost most of its political capital, trading it for massive online exposure and the trite warning: NSFW. Not that marginalization has disappeared, the corpse of infrastructure still rots in pace with other groups that have lost their symbols. Vetter’s work collapses art, game, and history into the ancient infrastructure of the flesh.
And most importantly, there is jouissance in Vetter’s grind—that piece of the abject that cannot be traded away regardless of power, position, pocketbook, or points. It is this piece that contextualizes Vetter’s art into the contemporary deluge to which we, in turn, contextualize our survival.
An opening reception will begin at 6:00 pm on Saturday April 11th through 8:00 pm. AB-Extradition will remain open until May 16th, 2009.
