All I can say is that August 8th has finally come and gone as it seemed everybody and their baby’s mamas planned some gigantic release around the opening day of the ceremonies. But with the Olympics comes the chance to see obscure sports I’d never really watch like target shooting as well as watch 16-year olds try not to break their face on a balance beam haha. Here’s our staff picks for the week which include a video into Loopwheeler’s factories, Jefford shows his sensitive side by choosing photography of the Olympic Opening Ceremony, Season’s obsession with baby products and the Hot Toys Batman Cosbabys.
Season – Visvim 2008 Autumn/Winter Preview
This week’s staff pick is not for myself, but my future baby. Hahaha don’t get me wrong I’m not preggers but i always go crazy whenever i see baby/kids products in stores. They are so adorable. This week, i pick the baby Visvim FBTs. They are so cute and tiny…. how can you resist these cute shoes? Damn Mama Chan is gonna go nuts one day when she really has a baby. My baby is gonna be a hypebeast hahaha.
Jason – Hot Toys Batman Cosbaby Collection
As one of the biggest blockbusters in some time coupled with its super-hero nature we’ve seen numerous toys made by various toymakers to cash in on the awesome movie. But with Hot Toys, their products have consistently produced quality toys regardless of which version they drop. As a comic fan, their Iron Man Cosbabys and of course more recently this capsule of Batman releases are quite detailed and would make a good addition to anybody’s toy collection.
Jefford – Photography from the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremonies
The Beijing Olympics Games officially kicked off over the weekend on 08/08/08. I wasn’t able to catch the opening ceremonies live but watched the replay later that night; even though I was looking forward to watching the ceremonies, the actual show exceeded my expectations. This spectacle was not only visually amazing it was also able to effectively represented the transition of traditional Chinese culture into it’s modern state now. These beautiful photos were able to capture the breathtaking moments through out the opening ceremonies. The ceremonies was a very good start to this important and pivotal event for China. For the coming weeks of sporting events I will be cheering on China to take home the 1st position on the medals podium. 中国加油!
With all the innovation that has entered our world today, from every discipline imaginable it’s great somewhat reassuring in my eyes to realize that technology isn’t the end all of things as we see Japanese brand Loopwheeler maintain history and quality through old and obsolete (in the eyes of some) techniques. We’ve seen a lot of talk in regards to Loopwheeler achieved through apparel/footwear team-up with Nike which should garner a lot of attention and gain new fans as we see buying habits change towards quality products with timeless aesthetics.
