Here we’re showing you a sneak peek at the collaboration between Vans and famed Japanese artist, Usugrow. Usugrow has worked on many collabos with other companies including Consolidated Skateboards, The Hundreds, Fifty24sf, and Secret Base. The shoes are mainly black with sophisticated details, featuring Usugrow’s signature style writing. The collection is set for release in 2009.

Sean Cliver, famous skateboard artist, is collaborating with Supreme to produce two skateboards with his own original artwork and two t-shirts for the project release. Sean Cliver started his career at Powell Peralta and has worked with the likes of World Industries, 101, Birdhouse, and Hook-ups, and has also published an abundance of books featuring thousands of skateboard graphics. The collaboration will be available at the NY and LA stores and online on June 12th, and will hit Japan stores on June 14th.
As part of their ongoing Century Celebration, Converse brought together some major players in the music industry to create a new soundtrack called “My Drive Thru.” The collaborating artists includes Pharrell Williams, N.E.R.D, Santogold, and Julian Casablancas. The track will be released on Tuesday, June 10th, and will be available for free download on converse.com and other authorized Converse websites. The three artists also collaborated on a music video that will be released during the summer.
While previous years were littered with numerous Wu-Tang referencing t-shirts, like all things they came to an abrupt end. However, teaming up with legendary Wu-Tang member Raekwon, Diamond Supply Co. are revisiting the Wu-Tang and Raekwon’s hit album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album in a t-shirt made exclusive to this year’s Rock the Bells Tour.

Inspired by 90s outdoor-inspired materials seen on backpacks, the Porter Vital collection is yet another release which implements the use of interesting materials from the heralded Japanese accessories maker. Over the years we’ve seen Porter create a series of collections with interesting material choices including leather with APC and denim with Levi’s (albeit with Head Porter). Bruce Springsteen’s 1975 release “Born to Run” was an album that epitomized the times. The album’s poetic prose mixed with classic rock styling spoke of youthful independence and became the soundtrack of a generation. Swedish artist Rigas known for his abrasive yet danceable synth heavy electronic music has penned an updated version of The Boss’ classic entitled “Born Not to Run”. Despite what the title suggests the track is in no way a remake, but rather a modern take (with tongue planted firmly in cheek) of the overall feeling of the youth today.
The song deals specifically with the claustrophobia of youth, constant boredom and a pervasive dead end feeling. However, the robust synth, keyboard stabs and bass accents don’t allow the song to get bogged down in its own seriousness creating a contrast to the heavy lyrics with a danceable bass line. Rigas’ voice is a half yelled high pitched shriek that matches well with the track. The video depicts is a bleak black and white urban landscape. Rigas is draped head to toe in white as he nonchalantly runs through his verses (even checking his cell phone at one point). The video and his attitude match perfectly with the feeling and message of the song.
