With China acting as host country for the 2008 Summer Olympics, Nike has afforded China with a special colorway of their recent flagship release the Hyperdunk. Utilizing new and innovative Flywire technology, the Hyperdunk has set the standard for lightweight basketball footwear. Flywire itself is based on wire structures often seen on bridges. Taking this concept, Nike has utilized this theme in creating footwear that maintains support only where it’s needed, effectively minimizing excess support and weight. The colorway features iconic Chinese colors in red and yellow.

Considered by many as Hong Kong’s poster boy of designer toy world, Michael Lau was sourced by Nike to create a special sneaker for the Chinese BMX Federation. The sneaker maintains a strong aesthetic allegiance to China’s iconic colors with yellow and red colors. The package also features a toy and special commemorative box to complete the set.
Yesterday saw the unveiling of a series of new products under the newly relaunched Nike Sportswear division. Among the products were a one piece Dunk High featuring a series of pixels forming the outline of the upper and Swoosh. Antenna Magazine has provided a more comprehensive look into the collection. We’ve seen a strong theme involving by-products of the number ‘8’ including liberal use of the octagon. In relation with the Beijing Olympics and the Chinese population, number 8 is a symbol of large significance indicating prosperity. No word yet on a release date.
