World Renowned Hip Hop/R&B artist Pharrell Williams and Japan’s music producer Nigo from APE SOUNDS are hosting Star Bape Search which is an audition to find the next female R & B artist. The audition will consist of several stages and will be broadcast on the NIGOLDENEYE show through MTV. The winner of the auction will get One Million Yen and also their own debut CD with APE SOUNDS. For more information, you can head to the Star Bape Search site. It’s in Japanese though but if you’re entering this contest, you’ll probably need to know Japanese anyway.

The Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama was born on March 29, 1929. “Her work shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content.” (Wikipedia) To commemorate the documentary film “≒ Yayoi Kusama: I love”, XLarge and X-girl has collaborated with Porter to create a set of Yayoi Kusama bags. There are two styles available, a messenger bag for the guys and a tote bag for the girls. These bags will be released on March 8th.

The streetwear label Rogue Status has teamed up with Italian bike maker Bianchi to create this wonderful Bianchi x Rogue Status Fixed Gear Bike. This bike comes in a simple white and black color with Rogue Status logos plastered on various parts. Unfortunately, no information has been released about the date of the release but please stay tuned for more info.

Incase, popular for their cases for Apple products, have a new collaboration with musician, John Mayer. Together, they have created “a simple, reusable, “green” utility/grocery bag made from hemp that was given to all the passengers of his Mayercraft Carrier Cruise last weekend.”. Anyone looking for a nice environment friendly bag should check this out but unfortunately they’re not sold to the public.

Kazuki from Fragment Design has lately been working on production for SiLLY THiNG’s new season. For the new collection, SiLLY THiNG will gradually be changing their style to more of a mature style by creating items like buttons ups shirts. They have also sourced quality fabrics from places like Japan and Europe.

Previous collaborations include artists and designers such as Gio Estevez, Mighty Healthy, Cody Hudson, Chuck Anderson, and Krink. Currated by Steven Vogel, this project is a good representation of when independent artist meets corporation.
