MODMNT Reworks Military Classics Into Modular Down Jackets
The Japanese label reimagines hunting jackets, military vests, and flight bombers through technical fabrics and interchangeable components
MODMNT, a brand developed by NANGA CO., LTD., one of Japan’s leading down manufacturers, has released the second delivery of its 2026 Fall/Winter collection. The lineup features four styles of down wear reinterpreting functional garments rooted in hunting, military, and other distinct eras and purposes, alongside additional fall/winter pieces.
MODMNT takes its name from “Modulement,” a coined term combining “Module,” “Mode,” “Equipment,” and “Element.” This season’s theme, “Beautifully Unpredictable,” translates the free-form processes of layering, removing, adding, and rearranging into the designs, offering wear that transforms with how it’s styled.
A standout piece in this delivery is the Field Down Jacket, a contemporary reconstruction of the classic hunting jacket. It features details such as a three-dimensional pocket that integrates a flap pocket with a hand warmer, along with leather patches at the shoulders. Beyond a detachable hood, the jacket incorporates a convertible structure that allows the hem’s skirt component to be extended, enabling the silhouette to change depending on how it’s worn. The outer shell uses a waterproof, breathable fabric with 11,000mm of water resistance and 8,500g/m²/24hr of breathability, filled with 180g of 760 fill-power Spanish duck down. It’s priced at ¥110,000 (tax included).
The collection also includes the Super Mackinaw (¥99,000), based on the classic Mackinaw jacket and combining the waterproof, breathable fabric Aurora-Tex® with the flame-resistant material Hinok; the Aviator Jacket (¥93,500), based on a bomber jacket design and featuring multiple pockets; and the C-1 Vest (¥60,500), inspired by military radio vests.
Combining elements from functional garments with distinct origins, MODMNT’s down wear allows wearers to transform their own style. The second delivery of the 2026 Fall/Winter collection is available now, having launched on Friday, October 16.
