With 2008 marking the 100th Anniversary of footwear maker Converse, those curious of what’s in store will unfortunately have to be patient for new developments. However here’s a look at some recent releases from Converse, a brand that has transcended every facet of society and seen on the feet of so many. Two Oxford models were released, a black leather and snakeskin colorway as well as an all suede creation while the iconic Chuck Taylor High was given the multi-colored treatment as well a contrasting white toebox and tongue model. In early 2006, Generic Costume designer, Kevin Carney (who has also worked as a design consultant to such companies as Stussy, Freshjive, Burton, Jeremy Scott and Incase) and his long time friend and business man Brandon Day started working together on The Generic Man. Noting a hole in the mens footwear market, they decided to focus on creating finely crafted mens shoes. The two traveled around Europe for 6 months searching for unique materials of the highest quality and finding factories who understood their vision.
For Fall/Winter 2007, six styles are available in an assortment of colored suedes and solid, metallic, or perforated leathers.
