The dunkxchange event in New York was recently held at Stereo in Manhattan this weekend Saturday, April 8th. HYPEBEAST was fortunate enough to be there to take snapshots of the occassion that collectively gathered sneakerheads across the New York City area. Despite the rain, sneaker fanatics turned up with great enthusiasm, packing the venue to near full capacity. Present at the event was a collection of familiar names in the sneaker community all showing quality sneakers, rare heat, special customs, and other impressive items at their tables. On site was Shady Records/Burn It Down, Sneaker Pimp, SB Wear, Kickzstore, ATMOS, AS, Sneak Tip, Nostylgia, Rebel Aire, Kicksclusive, KixandtheCity and a few more. Also in attendance was Calvan Fowler and his crew filming for the documentary “Jordan Heads.” As you can tell from this impressive list, the turnout was superb. Sponsors such as LRG, Mixwell, Daves Quality Meat, Rawkus Records, and other names all contributed to make the event happen. But most importantly, great thanks goes to Curtis Brown and Gary for initiating and executing the event.

Here’s an article on Supreme and the whole streetwear industry by Rob Walker for the New York Times.
“…in the last few years, as some sneaker shops have come to resemble highfalutin art galleries, it has been a little less clear who is borrowing what from whom. Consider, for example, Supreme. It’s a thoroughly downtown apparel brand with a shop on Lafayette Street in Manhattan and is associated with the culture of skateboards. On the other hand, the devotion and the pickiness – or, if you prefer, the snobbery – of the Supreme consumer compares with that of the high-end fashion consumer.”
