Bernard Willhelm received his Fashion Design Diploma from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1998. During his studies he was the assitant to many well established designers, such as Walter van Beirendonck and Dirk Bikkembergs. Bernard’s own line dropped during fashion week in Paris in 1999. By the year 2000 Willhelm had his own mens line, and ever since he has been very successful with his work selling out quickly worldwide.
It seems like Willhelm is at it again, now teaming up with Nike. The two created a track suit that features different pieces of Willhelm’s art on it. All of the art that appears on the track suit is embrodiered with fine detail. The track suit is in extremely limited edition and will only be sold for a short time.

Just a few weeks ago the MJC showed the world an interview with the largest shoe designer for Nike, Mr. Tinker Hatfield. The interview talks of how Hatfield imagined the mythical air max 1 after the discovery of the Center George Pompidou in Paris. This is the basis for Thibaut de Longeville directed, 8 minute film, showing how Tinker took Beaubourg architechture and created what remains to be one of the most beautiful sneakers to date. You may recognize Thibaut de Longeville’s work because he also directed “Just For Kicks” in 2005. For any true sneaker head this is an absolute must see.
