Converse One

Since Nike iD was successful, Converse has decided to do it’s own which is called Converse One. You are able to chose from the Chuck Taylor low or the high as your base shoe. The design program is the same as the Nike iD so those who have used the Nike iD program will be familiar with the set up. There are a lot of colors and styles to chose from. Sneakers: The Complete Collectors' Guide

Sneakers: The Complete Collectors' Guide

I just received my Sneakers: The Complete Collector’s Guide from Amazon. My first impression out of the box was that the hardcover had a nice and soft puffy feeling to it. The book starts off with an introduction of the various sneakers and some history about sneakers. As I flipped over some more pages, I discovered that this book was really a “complete sneaker guide”. It covers all sneaker models with history for each sneaker and it’s released date. Not to mention, it has great pictures of each shoe as well! This book was definitely worth the money! $19.77 at Amazon

Nike x Mr. Cartoon 2 Air Force 1

Nike x Mr. Cartoon 2 Air Force 1

You probably know what this shoe is already but Essense has some great new pictures of this Nike x Mr. Cartoon 2 Air Force 1 “Cinco De Mayo”. Like the Cinco De Mayo Dunk, this Air Force 1 is also inspired by the Mexician theme. The use of patent leather and the nicely embroided LA makes this shoe something to be desired for. + Essense

Co-Opting Street Art on the LES

If you’re in NYC, check this out at Nort. Finally, a truce in the ongoing struggle between art and commerce. After recent battles went both ways (Yay art! Yay, um, commerce!), the always level-headed Lower East Side weighs-in with a solution: Why not celebrate both? This newish Ludlow St. mural manages to do just that, expressing its bleak view of the urban jungle while also managing to pinpoint the exact location of Eldridge Street sneakerhead Mecca Nort. It’s a beautiful thing when two opposing sides can come together like this, all in the name of Nike. + Curbed via Flytip

Here’s some better pictures of the Vans x Mr. Cartoon Slip-ons from RTHQ. The art by Mr. Cartoon on this pair of vans is superb. Even Mr. Cartoon’s signature is on the midsole. + RTHQ

Here’s the New Balance x Sneakernstuff M577 SNS edition where only 96 pairs were made in England. Here’s the story from Sneakernstuff: “Finally! When New Balance asked us if we wanted to do a collab with them it took us a few minutes to understand it… The two founders of sneakersnstuff, Erik and Peter, flew down to England and the NB factory which is located in the nice Lake District in a little village called Flimby. No computers or photoshop were used. It was the old school way: “here are the materials available”. Write down where you like to put the certain materials and what colour. Two colourways was made. One by Erik and one by Peter.”
