Theorietically they can learn a lot about physics with the results of the experiement, but honestly I don't even really see the point. Yeah, it's interesting stuff, but is it worth wagering the lives and work of so many humans leading up to this point in time? Even if it's the smallest possible chance, I still don't think it's worth it.

This reply is precisely why you should just stfu. We obviously don't know what happens when something goes into a black hole and the nearest ones are hundreds/millions of light years away. We could never get there to find out. But yea like i first said you're a joke.

well in all seriousness there's just two more hours left to till the activation of the LHC. I doubt a stable black hole would form up, but the fact that there is a small chance daunts me abit. I would like the see what the outcome of the testing would be, if it somehow didnt get classified by officials.

and flatland, im tryna lighten up the situation because some people get too serious about this end of the world stuff.

Really though, They are saying there is a very small chance that it will create a black and even if it does it would be microscopic and unable to sustain itself do to lack of energy. They are trying to learn about the nature of matter by essentially creating it.
