3 models sold in the US come in 6x6, the 5000, 5507, and the 5010. Which one are you asking about?

Ayo real talk, the crispyness of skulls is killing me. I'm gonna do a cold soak or wash soon to get rid of the starch.
Dec 05, 2010 @ 09:28
it helps to set up some creases tho.
Dec 06, 2010 @ 13:45
anyone have fit pics of the 5507s?

I have a pair but haven't had a chance to do fit pics. I'll try to do some if I get a chance. In the meantime, here is a fit pic of those jeans from the Self Edge website.

Dec 06, 2010 @ 15:08
selfedge took horrible fit pictures for skull jeans. The 5010 picture doesn't even look like the 5010 jean. Of course they've had the pictures for a couple years and the jean has changed since then.

wear it for a few months and it'll be good to go

but i had to soak to help the stacks settle, they were being little bitches even after the 4 month mark

This is exacty what I wanted to do but I got them hemmed instead

thanks for the tip wurldwide.
I'm already nearing six months but I decided to go just a little bit longer until a soak/wash.

@airfred, how tall and how much you chop off?
Also thinking about getting a hem after a few washes, stacks are nice but they get annoying.
Dec 06, 2010 @ 18:05
5'9 and I hemmed about 2 inches off. I think it looks perfect now plus they'll be
good summer jeans to pinroll in the future..
Dec 07, 2010 @ 06:34
i hemmed 2 inches off the inseam and tapered about 1 inch on the jeans too

but that was before i started to actually wear them

side view pic from couple weeks ago ( about 5 months in now? )

front is pretty standard.. similar to airfred's

nice jeans wurldwide. Are they (were they) originally 5010xx? I'm also in the greater vancouver area and may I ask where you got them taper since I plan to do that on my pair as well (taper to follow Naked Famous skinny guy fit)
Dec 09, 2010 @ 04:12
I got a pair of 5507, I'll try to take fit pic later.

Btw, I'm looking for a pair of 5010 in Size 30, so if you're considering selling yours....

yeah they are/were 5010xx, but they were the earlier runs... so if you buy them now the sizing is different according to BiG, they run bigger now apparently.

i had mine tailored at albert's tailoring on robson and granville.

i actually regret tapering mine, it made the selvedge wide and rather ugly... so it loses some points in that regard. but atleast he knows better than to cut the selvedge off (without me telling him not to) like most places would do.
Dec 09, 2010 @ 19:59
wurldwide - info on shoes?
Dec 09, 2010 @ 23:24
clarks matte black desert boots, they're davidz.com exclusives so you gotta buy it off the web

size down .5 to 1 lol

There are places, such as the Denim Doctors at the Hollywood Trading Company, that taper by altering the inseam rather than the outseam. That way, the selvage isn't touched at all.
Dec 10, 2010 @ 00:04
Yo guys, 5'9/10 155 athletic build true waist 31 going true on a older red tab 5507x, good idea?

you realize we're in the metro vancouver region right? lol not about to fly/ship my jeans to LA to get it tapered

i'm sure albert could've done the same if you ask him to alter it through the outseam, he's a pretty good tailor

If I've already spent close to $300 on a pair of jeans, I'd rather spend a little extra to have someone tailor it exactly the way I want it than to pay someone to do it a different way and then regret it afterwards, like you mentioned you did.

Whoever Albert is, he would have had to tailor through the inseam, not the outseam, to leave the selvage untouched. If you taper on the outseam, you have to either make the selvage line wider or remove part of it.
Dec 10, 2010 @ 18:52
hemmed about 2 in. Lovin the fit now. sorry for all the pictures...

again, i have no regrets of tapering the jeans the way it was done. if it's done then it's done

i'm not gonna QQ over it nor is there a need to. try and read exactly what i said in my last post before you make another remark. i'm not planning to repeat myself.

and also, just fyi. a ticket to LA from Vancouver is more expensive than buying a new pair of Skulls and altering them again. food for thought

so you do your thing and i'll do mine. i dgaf
Dec 11, 2010 @ 08:55
im with you wurldwide, your jeans do whatever the hell you want with them.
Real talk, nobody says "zoomggg selvedge denimzz youhs boss".
Reality is very few people know what it is and even less people actually care.

@airfred, youdamayne.

hey guyz

I got the 5507 in size 30. I'd like to buy a pair of 5010 but I'm wondering if I have to take the same size or to size up?

thank you.

I wasn't telling you what to do. I was offering a suggestion based on your quote above that you regretted tapering your jeans. Also, I wasn't suggesting that you fly to LA from Vancouver to get the jeans tapered, that would be way too expensive. Denim Doctors at Hollywood Trading Company accepts mail-ins for alterations.

You are right, what's done is done. It's more trouble than it is worth to undo what's been done to yours and then do it again differently. My advice was meant more for the next time you are considering having jeans tapered.

I've owned both models before, I would get the same size in both.
