Monocle Commends 50 Places for Its Second Annual Restaurant Awards
The publication honors three examples from Toronto, Italy and Japan.
Monocle recently unveiled its second annual Restaurant Awards that recognizes fifty humble eateries that serve only the most delectable dishes. The renowned global affairs and lifestyle magazine solely focused on restaurants that have been “consistently good” while eschewing “novelty and pretentiousness” in regards to the food items on their menu as well as the atmospheres they create for their customers. In a new video honoring the award winners, Monocle Films traveled to three different countries to sit down in three equally-satisfying restaurants mentioned in this year’s winning list.
For breakfast, Monocle journeyed to Toronto, Canada to snag a tasty grilled cheese sandwich at Rose and Sons Diner. For lunch, the company trekked to Sori, Italy to sample a palatable octopus salad at Bagni Sillo. The final leg of the trip involved the number one restaurant on this year’s list, Cignale Enoteca in Tokyo, Japan—a restaurant located in the Meguro district that is helmed by Chef Toshiji Tomori who cooks up uniquely Japanese-Italian dishes.
