A Closer Look at the Souvenir Jacket-Inspired BEAMS x mita sneakers x ASICS GEL-Lyte III

The GEL-Lyte III has undoubtedly served as the canvas to some of ASICS’ best collaborative creations of all time and potentially topping that list is the upcoming “Souvenir Jacket” version of the retro runner from BEAMS and mita sneakers. Now, fresh off a first look at the kicks comes an in-depth look at the collaborative greatness. As the name implies, the split-tongued silhouette has been transformed into a look that’s one part sneaker, one part souvenir jacket. The results include everything from black suede and quilted velvet-like construction to embroidered co-branding, “Japan” text and colorful decorations on the left and right heels — a tiger (appropriately) and the kanji for luck, respectively.

Finished with camo applications to the outsole and custom footbeds (which also sport mita’s signature chainlink motif), the GEL-Lyte III “Souvenir Jacket” is set to hit both BEAMS and mita this Saturday, June 11 alongside matching limited edition tees.
