Watch a Drone Race a McLaren in the Lead-up to Dubai's World Drone Prix
Which would you bet your money on?
Drone racing has gained real traction in the past few months, what with the introduction of professional leagues funded by big money. Among the host of competitions vying to make the fledgling discipline a mainstream sport is the first-ever World Drone Prix, based in nowhere other than Dubai, a city seemingly yanked out of the future. In a high-octane promo for the Prix — which features $1 million USD in prize money and has attracted over 100 teams from around the world — a McLaren P1 of the Dubai Police competes against a drone on the avenues of Dubai, passing through neon markers and hitting the city’s most recognizable landmarks in a series of checkpoints. With the qualifiers taking place on March 7-8, and the Prix on March 11-12, follow the preparations as they take place online here.
