Preview Kanye West's 'American Idol' Audition
“My name is Kanye, I’m from the south side of Chicago.”

For its upcoming 15th and final season, American Idol is making sure that the audience is treated with tons of surprises. One of these surprises will involve a star cameo during the San Francisco’s part of AI‘s cross-country audition process, which went down back in October, when none other than Kanye West crashed the audition session as a contestant. A previously-released clip showed that he performed an a capella version of his hit “Gold Digger.” While the video appeared to be random at first and did not divulge what exactly he was doing, a new preview posted by his wife Kim Kardashian West delivers the answer. Shared through Kim’s Twitter account, the teaser features her husband’s appearance telling judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.:
“My name is Kanye. I’m from the south side of Chicago. I’m originally a producer,” he says. “I always wanted to rap and no one really believed in me, so I wanted to try some things out, you know?”
The entire audition will be aired when American Idol returns for its final season in January but you can preview it below.
