Le1f, Lunice & Evian Christ Link Up for "Umami/Water"

Le1f has been reaching out to the best, most forward-thinking producers out there for his debut album.

This friday, you can expect Le1f‘s debut studio album Riot Boy to surface. Supported by songs made in cojunction with high-profile, exceptionally-talented producers such as Balam Acab and SOPHIE, Riot Boy has already showcased Le1f’s ear for production and versatility. As his album’s release week begins, Le1f has dropped off another song from the LP. Entitled “Umami/Water,” the track finds Le1f looking to groundbreaking, forward-thinking beatsmiths Lunice and Evian Christ for production. You can stream the cut above, and read a statement about it below.

I felt that I needed to do that because so many of my favorite people are trans, particularly Juliana Huxtable. She’s one of my favorite artists in general.
It came around the time where she had that amazing series of pieces and collaborations in the Whitney Biennial. She attended Bard College and booked me for some of my first shows, before I put the “1” in my name. We’ve been friends for a really long time, so to see her transition into the most amazing human being…I just wanted to make a song that would make her the most proud, and would be helpful for the trans community at large but also my friends who are trans.
