In stark contrast to the insanely powerful Pininfarina-assisted Gran Lusso Coupe BMW unveiled at last year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, this year’s offerings from the German automaker have been marked by an industrially-inclined motorcycle and now, a specially-designed MINI: the Superleggera Vision. An all-electric roadster designed by Touring Superleggera, the concept vehicle nicely updates MINI’s own compact Roadster with an elegant, elongated redesign. Pairing a long hood with a shortened rear deck, the traditional design is fitted with a beautiful fin, Union Jack-inspired taillights, prototypical MINI headlamps, and a fresh take on the MINI Cooper‘s signature grille. Inside, aluminum and leather trim cover the entirety of the cabin as signature MINI touches like a centrally-mounted speedometer and the column-mounted tachometer are coupled with classic British roadster characteristics throughout. According to the automaker, the concept “epitomizes the potential of ‘Carrozzeria’ in today’s automobile industry: blending creativity and flexibility with rigor and respect of high standards. The result is a car of classic beauty that is also state of the art.”
Could the eco-friendly concept be a sign of things to come for MINI and its future roadsters?
