Samsung has officially announced the release of the Galaxy Camera 2, the successor to the Galaxy Camera – a mobile device aimed toward a niche market of prosumers that seek a combination of capture performance, sharing capability, and a smartphone profile. Featuring an array of standout specifications such as a 1.6GHz quad-core processor that runs Android‘s 4.3 Jelly Bean platform, a camera that boasts 16.3 effective megapixels, and a 23 mm wide angle lens with 21x optical zoom, this camera will not disappoint those looking to capture images with superior quality and speed. Weighing in at roughly 280 grams and measuring 13cm x 7cm x 2cm, the lightweight and compact hybrid device offers a stylish retro design. No word yet on the price point of the Galaxy Camera 2, however its retail value is expected to be around the $499 USD mark – the price of the OG Galaxy Camera when it first launched at the end of 2012.
