Chris Martin Buys Banksy's 'The Healing Balloon' for $650,000 USD

The rich and famous continue to snatch up some of the rarest and most sought-after contemporary art in the world – a longstanding trend reaffirmed by Chris Martin. The Coldplay frontman recently picked up a new and original version of Banksy‘s so-called The Healing Balloon – which originally appeared on a wall in Brooklyn as a part of the famed Brit’s “Better Out Than In” street residency in New York before making its way to Basel Week in Miami back in December. The selling price? A cool $650,000 USD. Thankfully, the entirety of the proceeds will go to charity as it was sold in Beverly Hills as a part of Sean Penn’s Help Haiti Home Gala, which ultimately raised more than $6 million USD for the cause.
