Maison Martin Margiela x Converse First String 2013 Collection Official Release Details

Maison Martin Margiela and Converse have finally unveiled details of their highly-publicized collaboration. The two iconic brands teamed up to hand-paint two classic silhouettes – Converse’s Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Jack Purcell – in Margiela’s iconic white. These renditions mark an interesting interpretation of the high-end designer and shoemaker project trend occurring this year, mostly in that the entire shoe has been doused in paint rather than created from a selection of materials or colored fabric. The wear-in process of the sneakers is a key factor: the exterior will chip and fade according to the wearer’s lifestyle, creating an individual identity for each pair. Meanwhile, premium leather lining in the interior will wear according to the wearer’s walking patterns. The collection will be available at select Converse First String retailers and Margiela stores later this month, set for a retail price of $200 USD.
