“A Texan Oil Baron looking to buy up a remote Scottish Island to place a great big oil rig in the middle of it” – such is the unusual premise behind British starlet Lou Dalton‘s Fall/Winter 2013 collection and now, her corresponding collaboration with Opening Ceremony. Culling equal inspiration from Bill Forsyth’s award-winning 1983 comedy-drama Local Hero and the designer’s own partner, Justin Haigh (she met Haigh on a trip to Shetland which, at one time, was the biggest oil port in Europe), Dalton crafted a collection that features everything from 1970s-esque graphic tees to sweats and trucker caps – all for a fictional “Zetland Oil” company dreamed up for the release. Offering a bit more of a casual sportswear edge to the more refined offerings typically associated with the young Brit, this season’s Lou Dalton x Opening Ceremony range will soon be available online.
