Opening Ceremony isn’t technically connected to the Olympics in London, but then again, the global games were the original inspiration for the Manhattan-based fashion boutique. Opening Ceremony is all about bringing together the works of some of the best and brightest international designers in a unique showroom and retail space. But just in time for the games and the impending population influx that will descend upon the city, Opening Ceremony’s London retail store is now open for business, marking the third continent into which the label has opened its doors. The colorful 3,000-square-foot shop will be temporarily located at 31-32 King Street in Covent Garden, with a slightly larger and more permanent space planned to open by early fall. In addition to Opening Ceremony’s excellent private label collections, the shop will also be stocking names like Norma Kamali, Christopher Shannon, Proenza Schouler, Band of Outsiders, Komakino and House of Holland.
