I’m not looking to reduce friction, I’m looking to eliminate it. I currently have a paper towel placed between the base of my 27″ Apple Cinema Display and desktop to ensure that when I swivel the monitor neither it nor my desk gets scratched.

This protective sleeve, like many others, serves a purpose. And you’re just as naive as your age indicates if you think that because something is not useful to you, it must not be useful at all.

You’ve obviously never taken a high school physics class. Reduce the friction by lifting up slightly, unless the monitor is too heavy for you?

You’ve obviously never had an Apple Cinema Display. They’re so heavy and that base is so sharp, it naturally scratches desktop surfaces. It’s actually very useful.

Completely pointless in my opinion

if you don’t want to scratch your desk, go to the £1 store and pick up a mouse mat or anti slip mat

I mean if you don’t move it often then you don’t need it but I have like netflix so I am always moving and adjusting my computer.

I have an iMac and I don’t think scratching my desk is a real problem. I also don’t move my iMac that often.
